What is an MSP?
MSP stands for Managed Services Provider. Companies that offer this service generally manage all hardware and software for the businesses they support, managing your computers, printers and any connected devices. They look after your internet infrastructure and connectivity and are there to support you when your tech is letting you down. Critical services such as email management, cloud services (Dropbox, Microsoft 365, Google workspace etc), backup and disaster recovery are usually included too.
Cyber security is increasingly important, so the MSP will be there to protect your business from a cyber-attack using premium AV software (Antivirus) and security audits through Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) to do so. Most insurance companies expect you to have strong protective tools in place and a capable business supporting you is key.
A good MSP would sit silently in the background, allowing you to focus on your business – the most important benefit.
When would my business need to use an MSP?
For one of our customers, Architectural Plants, the need for an MSP was felt when the owner was supporting all his team with basic IT support. Regularly being asked to jump in and fix computer, Wi-Fi, network and printer problems etc. It was inefficient and it was starting to impact the growth of their business.
When you grow to a team of 5 plus it seems to be a good point to consider outside support and the more tech your business relies on the quicker will be your desire to seek a professional.
